Liverpool are weighing up defensive changes this summer as uncertainty grows around Jarell Quansah’s future.
Liverpool have set their sights on Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi as a potential reinforcement at centre-back, according to Paul Joyce.
The 24-year-old England international has emerged as a strong candidate to replace Jarell Quansah, who appears to be heading for a summer exit from Anfield.
Guehi brings proven Premier League experience and regular involvement with the England squad, making him a strong fit to step into Liverpool’s backline.
With his contract at Palace running until 2026, but no renewal agreed, Palace may be open to selling now rather than risk letting him go as a free agent next year.
Guehi is viewed as a composed and tactically disciplined centre-back who could adapt quickly to life at Anfield, especially under Arne Slot.
If he arrives, he’ll face strong competition from Ibrahima Konate for a starting role alongside Virgil van Dijk.
But Konate’s own situation adds an extra layer of intrigue — his deal also expires in 2026, and reports suggest Real Madrid are monitoring him closely, potentially eyeing a free move next summer if a contract extension isn’t signed.
With that in mind, Liverpool’s interest in Guehi may be both a response to a possible Quansah exit and a pre-emptive move to cover longer-term uncertainties in their defence.

As Liverpool line up Guehi, Jarell Quansah is closing in on a move to Bayer Leverkusen.
However, with Liverpool reshaping their defence and receiving a strong offer, the club appear ready to part ways.
The sale would represent a significant profit for a homegrown talent and could help fund Liverpool’s pursuit of a more experienced centre-back — with Marc Guehi emerging as the frontrunner to step in.
